[...] Certo, pure da spente sono bellissime - anzi, a riposo mostrano ancora meglio la sontuosità scultorea delle povere materie di cui sono fatte; ma è quando dal di dentro le penetra la luce e se ne imbevono, è allora che raggiungono la loro propria meraviglia: quando le colle e gli ispessimenti delle carte sovrapposte si trasfigurano in forme e profondità sorprendenti, e colori, prima segreti, si aprono felici sulle cose intorno, che subito ricambiano con grata beatitudine.

[...] Obviously they are beautiful even unlit. In daylight they actually enhance the sumptuous sculptural quality of the simple materials they are made of. Yet, when turned on and as the light shines through them they become a marvel. The glues and the thickened paper layers attain astonishing shapes and depths. And colours, hidden at first, open up gaily on their surroundings and those gratefully respond.
